Of five siblings, I am the only one who hasn't gone grey (am in my sixth decade). My other siblings went grey, then white, starting in their late teens. This was a trait inherited from their mother. I rec'd the trait from my father.
So, yes, heredity does determine in the timeframe.
Amino acids play a role in how soon our hair greys; amino acids are the building blocks for hair and nails, as well as for skin. Mostly they are naturally derived from animal flesh such as beef. Many people are somewhat deficient in amino acids. Sometimes, taking supplements will cause grey hair to return to its natural pigmentation.

I've had grey hairs off and on since I was 3. I'm 27 and my hair is going white in areas. There really is no way to stop the process, it happens on its own. Your hair line and the way your hair greys is mostly hereditary and slightly environmental. If you won't to embrace your grey at 20 (and I don't blame you), you can dye your hair.

It can be, it's a sex-linked trait, meaning if your dad started balding early he carries the gene, but you may not have it. (If you're a girl.) It's kind of complicated. You do grey with age though.

Yes it can be hereditary and yes its possible to start graying at your age. What happens is you lose the pigment in your hair. There is no way to prevent hair from graying. The only solution is to dye it.

it is totally possible. the only way you can prevent it is dying your hair. keep your hair clean and wash it every day and that will decreese the posiilities of it happening though.

Can be. It's also a natural consequence of aging.
