How To Cover Up Gray Hair In Medium Blonde Hair

hey_usa_rules asked:

Okay – I’m fighting the gray hair battle.

No suggestions on going “natural”, I’m not ready for that just yet.

But, I’m tired of going to salons that charge a lot for highlighting or coloring.

Does anyone have products that you would recommend to color over the gray.

I’m also interested in not damaging my hair if possible.

Many Thanks!

I would recommend dyeing all your hair a shade darker than your natural color. . Thus this would be damaging. I guess I don’t know. Good luck with that.. and if you come up with any thing that works let me know!
    Cheers!

I buy self color in kmart or walmart and do it myself at home, $7-10 saves at least 40.00 or more depending on how much your salon costs, the other alternative is a thing called Grecian formula, they make a version for women, I had to buy in online since the stores where I live don’t carry it. I don’t know how much damage either thing will do. condition condition condition and it should help hair feel soft.

Ok, I went natural and im totally happy wiht it, but it took a couple years of short/short cuts to like the grey. Now I have longer grey hair only 39, and Im tired of fighting the battle. My hair is darker.

My only advise is your inbetween colors in your bathroom and highlights from your salon only a couple times a year.

the white hair washes out color more quickly becuase it has no pigment in the shaft, its empty. The cuticle or the outside of the hair is more coarse, so you need to condition all the time. Also use leave in conditinoer.

You will need to soften your grey hair before you color it, so it will absorb more color. But you know..it will be washing out soon…no matter what products you use.

I always used Miss Clairol from the store. Got a couple of bottles at a time for touch ups. Any product you use that has peroxide is going to damage your hair eventually…just visit the salon for a trim more often.

Good luck-I know its frustrating! That’s why I quit!

I am 68 and have a lot of gray hair (hubby calls his silver lol) Anyway, like you, I don’t want to damage my hair and I really can’t afford the salon treatments, SO I use a product that can be found at beauty supply stores. It is ROUX Fanci-Full color styling mousse by Revlon. It styles in temporary color instantly. I love it and have been using it for years. Comes in all different shades and is not expensive. $7.99 and a can will last a long long time. I think you would like it.

To cover grey hair many people use henna, but application of henna alone will not give a black color to hair. Henna with combination of indigo leaves powder gives black colour to hair which lasts for more than a month. And not only that it is a safe herbal remedy for colouring hair at home with out any chemicals in it. To know the process of application check :
