Covering Gray Hair

When it comes to covering gray hair, there are a variety of options.  All it takes is some imagination, creativity, and a desire to try a new look.

Hats, for example, come in a variety of colors and styles.  Instead of dull and drabby gray hair, you can cover it with deep purple, royal blue, emerald green, or wild fuscia.  Some types of hats will cover all the hair, leaving grays concealed quite nicely.  So, go ahead and shop for hats; needless to say, stay away from the dull beige and gray!

Wigs are also fun fashion accessories.  Wigs made from human hair will cover the head most naturally, hiding any grays.  The best wigs will closely mimic the way hair randomly covers the scalp.

Of course, for those who simply miss their original hair color, tinting the gray hair with a temporary stain or permanent dye is most likely the best option.  It would not be possible to match the color exactly, but it could come close, or perhaps the original hair color would actually be improved!  However, bear in mind that a permanent dye will not cover the hair, per se, since the dye actually penetrates the cuticle and is deposited inside the hair cortex.

Henna is likely the best option for covering gray hair with some color.  It is natural and actually beneficial to the overall condition of the hair.  The grays will stain lighter than the rest of the hair, creating a very subtle “highlighted” effect.

Tired of the grays?  Cover up with hats, wigs, or hair stains.  Be a little adventurous and go for it!
