Semi- and Demi-permanent Dye for Coloring Gray Hair
For some
Gray hair is not really a problem. In
fact, there are those who feel that their gray hairs wouldn’t look so bad if
they didn’t make the rest of the hair look so dull. Nobody wants the gray
to make them look washed-out all the time; but on the other hand,
permanently coloring the hair produces such a drastic change, that many are
hesitant to go that hair-coloring route. So what is the answer? If the Gary
hair occupies ten to twenty percent of the hair on your head, then there is
some good news: Semi- or demi-permanent color. These methods produce a
moderate change in hair color intensity that leave the former gray hairs
looking more like highlights. Overall, the gray blends and the color is
enhanced, leaving the hair looking vibrant. Both color
application procedures for gray hair can last about an hour-and-a-half in
the salon. The color penetrates the hair cuticle to the second layer
without the use of peroxide. Meanwhile, the grays will take the color in a
lighter shade, producing a highlighted look.
Semi-permanent hair color will last for 4-6 shampoos, and should be
reapplied every week to four weeks. Demi-permanent
color is similar in that it uses little or no peroxide or ammonia. The
color penetrates a little deeper into the hair shaft, producing
longer-lasting color and coverage of gray hair. It will brighten your
natural hair color about one shade, reducing the contrast between grays and
pigmented hair strands. |
